There are many beautiful beaches but perhaps the best for snorkeling and clarity of the sea is at Sosua

Deep sea fishing is available for individuals or as a group.

Punta Cana and Playa Dorada host a number of golf courses and horse-riding stables.

Puerto Plata and Caberette is a sportsman paradise, you can try your hand at kitesurfing or just go along to watch the pro’s. Cabarette is one of just 5 top world destinations for this energetic and frantic sport.

Puerto Plata is not only a bustling town but it also offers a fantastic chance to reach up 2,565 feet in a cable car, the views are incredible and at the very top you will see a miniature version of ‘Rio de Jenerio’s’ Christ the Redeemer.

Jarabacoa is excellent for canoing, hiking, swimming, rock climbing and rappelling.

Salta de jimenoa has a spectacular waterfall which is popular for the daring sport of cascading; adrenaline junkies can climb up the cliffs and then jump off into the waterfall or down a chute.

Whale Watching: Samana has the best opportunity to spot these endangered whales, they migrate to this area between January and March. Samana also boasts a 83 mile national park of mangroves and swamps where over 100 varying species of animals and birds can be seen. There are caves where the ancient drawings from the original inhabitant’s of the Dominican Republic, Taino, can still be seen.

If you fancy something a little different there is a restaurant and disco held in a 50ft deep cave. There is a 1950’s gasoline disco which has the 50’s theme and music. Casinos can be found in many places including most major hotels, however, the dress code at the casinos are more formal, so no jeans.

In total there is a staggering 13 golf courses ranging from 9 to 18 holes. Some have the enviable location of an ocean view and beautifully sculpted gardens.
